2023 Topps Holiday Checklist

Let’s look at the Topps Series 1 Baseball 2023 checklist, team list, and odds. For card collectors, the 2023 Topps Series 1 Baseball Tournament will usher in a new season, even weeks before the first official games. The setup is similar to how it has been for a few years now, both in terms of package and box sizes and the heart of the release, the base set.

However, like every year, the flagship version has something new and a nostalgic look at the past. Standard hobby boxes promise a signature or relic—a patch used or crafted by the game. The hobby jumbo box has three achievements: an autograph, a souvenir card, and a handmade relic.

Overview of the 2023 Topps Series 1 Baseball Checklist

The base set includes 330 cards. In addition to the standard rookie and veteran cards, there are subsets such as future stars, tournament leaders, and team cards.

There was no fan vote for the 2023 Topps Baseball Tournament like in previous years to determine who would lead the inning with the number 1 card. Instead, it was given to San Diego superstar Juan Soto. The design features a pair of player photos on the front, action shots, and more miniature portraits. It follows a pattern where it occurs every 20 years. 2003, 1983, and 1963 Topps Baseball using similar configurations.

Parallels are a familiar blend of colour and foil. They understand:

Rainbow Foil – 1:10 packs

Rainbow Gold Foil- 1:2 jumbo hobby packs

Royal Blue – 1:10 retail packs

Gold – 2023

Green Foil Board – / 499

Orange Foil Board – / 299

Red Foil Board – / 199

Vintage Stock – / 99

Independence Day – /76

Black – / 72 ( hobby jumbo only)

Father’s Day Powder Blue  – /50

Mother’s Day Hot pink – /50

Hundreds of cards also have a transparent version. Numbered up to 10, these are only available in standard hobby packages, which has been the case since they were introduced a few years ago.

The 330 cards also have the problematic Golden Mirror variation’s short prints. They have another photo as well as a gold back. An easy way to identify yourself on the front is with the Topps logo. Instead of silver foil, it’s Gold for variations. The back also has a gold foil SSP stamp on the top. They replace the SP and SSP image variants.

Extra Topps Series 1 2023 Baseball Insert

The Topps Series 1 Baseball 2023 Checklist has several other inserts.

The best hits of 2022 follow up on some of last season’s best offensive moments. They are made on foil board stock.

All Aces are inspired by playing cards, including the rounded corners. There’s no clash here, but here are the best pitchers of today and the past. Made on foil, these may remind some longtime collectors of 1993 Select Aces inserts.

The pitch theme continues with One-Two Punch. Each of them has a striking combination from the past or present.

Welcome to the Club featuring 20/20/20, 30/30, and 40/40 Club members. These four inserts have a similar selection:

Blue, Gold(/75), Red (/10) Black (/299),  and Platinum (1/1). Some cards also have an autograph limit of no more than 25 copies. For One-Two Punch signatures, this means a pair of signatures.

The 2023 Topps Series 1 baseball also features some more rigid inserts.

Heavy Lumber highlights the 20 best baseball players. They are also made of Lumber.

The Sketch Card is returning only in Hobby and Hobby Jumbo Packs. Each of them has original hand-drawn illustrations.

The home run challenge returns in the 2023 Topps Series 1 Baseball League. Every hobby box and hobby jumbo box comes with a code card that collectors can use to predict when a featured player will hit home success. If the date is correct, they will receive an exclusive card.

The Stars of MLB: Retail insert

The MLB Stars theme is returning as a retail-exclusive accessory for another year during the 2023 Topps Series 1 Baseball Tournament. The standard card is one card per pack, with colour versions. red (/70),platinum (1/1) and  black (/25)also available.

The stars of the MLB’s Chrome insert are 1:10 retail packs. They are parallel to the red refractor (/70), the black refractor (/25), and Superfractor (1/1).

2023 Topps Series 1 Baseball Signatures and Commemorative Cards

Besides the signed versions of the standard insert, the Topps Series 1 Baseball 2023 Checklist has several other places to look for autographs.

The baseball star’s signature has a theme that’s open enough to appeal to a broad audience of players. These colours correspond to Black (/199 and below),  Red (/25), Gold (/50), and Platinum (1/1). Collectors can also find a baseball star’s Double Autograph.

The Topps Reverence Autograph Patch card is back. Again, these featured card signatures and premium uniform patterns are used in the game. Exclusive to the hobby and hobby pack, base builds numbered up to 10 with an additional Platinum (/5) and Gold (1/1) build are also available. It should be noted that the similarities between these were initially advertised as red (/5) and Platinum (1/1), but the platinum numbers on the final cards are five; Gold is single, and red is not contained in the product.

A handful of cut signatures, all unique, have very long odds. World Series Champion Cards and Post-Season Performance Cards will return this year with memorabilia, autographs, and memorabilia cards signed by players who played in the 2022 playoff. Relics are limited to 99, while autographs and auto relics have no more than 50. All three tiers are red (/25 and below) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.

Major League Material’s relic cards are as wide as the autographed baseball stars. Black (/199), Gold (/50 and below), Red (/25 and below), and Platinum (1/1) versions join the unnumbered base inserts. There are also autographs of 50 copies plus Red (/25 or less) and Platinum (1/1) equivalents.
